We all have body goals that we aim to achieve, some of us seem to achieve it effortlessly while some of us even after struggling so much doesn’t seem to achieve desired results. When it comes to working out we don’t even realize what we are doing wrong or why aren’t we able to achieve the desired results.
Some of the reasons why you may be failing to achieve those goals are:
Lack of a clear plan
Most of us out of zeal and excitement decide to get fit and healthy and start working out after watching a few videos or head to the gym and start doing exercises by looking at others in the gym. This is a wrong step as everyone’s body structure is different. Exercises should be equipped according to the structure of the person and the goals that a person wants to achieve. Not setting a clear plan according to your body type will only lead to a vague plan leading to nothing at all.
Doing too much
Once we have made the workout plan we go all out and start working out too much on a daily basis. Working out too much in a short period of time will lead to injuries as your body is not ready for such an intense workout. Instead of working out too much making a proper plan with respect to your body and needs will give you the best results.
Once we start working out we expect to get results overnight. Sorry to break it to you but nothing works like that! No matter what goals you are trying to achieve, you can’t achieve them overnight. Goals require consistency and patience. It took a long time for you to get the body that you have right now, just like that it will take time for you to get the body of your choice. Patience will not only help you get the body of your choice but also help you to achieve peace of mind.
Leaving it halfway
The mistake that most of us do is leaving our workouts halfway because you were apparently busy and then not picking up later on. Making excuses once will lead to more and more excuses and we will end up leaving the workout midway. Sometimes we leave our workouts midway because we are too tired to continue but this “sometimes” keep recurring and we end working out only partially. So how do you expect full result when you’re working out only partially?
One of the workout mistakes that we do is setting unrealistic goals like achieving the desired body within a week or two will only lead to disappointment. These disappointments act as a demotivation which will only make you give up on exercise. So talk to your trainer to make realistic goals and plan to achieve it with consistency and determination.
Repeating the same exercise
Repeating the same exercise every day will make your body get used to the workout and hence your body will not need to push harder. Only when your body pushes itself more will it achieve the desired body. So make sure you keep changing your exercises to make your body push itself.
Lying to yourself/not accepting your true fitness level
Consistently lying to yourself about your fitness level, or how hard you are working even when you are not doing enough is one reason why you are failing at your workouts. We often lie to ourselves when we don’t want to workout more but don’t realize that lying will only become a problem for ourselves.
No matter how much we workout if we don’t curate and follow a good diet plan our workouts would just be a waste of time this is exactly what we do sometimes. We think that working out extensively without cutting down on our diet will give us the body we have been wanting for a very long time. But we often forget that it is 70% diet and 30% workout that creates a change.
We all make mistakes and it’s okay to do so. The important thing is to learn from our mistakes and to correct them.
We spend a lot of our time working out to be healthy and fit, let’s make this time worth it!
