The Unlocking has begun and finally, gyms and fitness studios are in the process of opening their doors for all and sundry. These Unlock, however, come with a set of rules and strict instructions from the governments. Apart from your gym following these SOPs to the T, here are 5 ways to maintain your Covid Protocols, and make your workout as safe as possible.

  1. BYOB (Bag, not booze ):

Carrying your own kit was never more essential. This is not the time to beg or borrow, be it a bottle of water or a towel to wipe off the grease. Carrying your own gym bag ensures you are following your covid protocols, and you don’t share germs or viruses in any way, if sharing a sweaty towel wasn’t already gross enough, that is.

  1. Book a date (and time):

Schedule your sessions beforehand. Most gyms offer online booking services, our advice is you use them to your benefit. This way, there’s no risk of running into crowds or getting locked out into a waiting line because of one. The farther away from the crowds you stay, the safer you keep yourself.

  1. Glove ‘em up:

Use arm covers, gym gloves, socks when using the gym. You never know who has used the equipment before you so it is always good to cover up all body parts susceptible to touch these machines. On top of that, wearing gym gloves will serve as a reminder for you to not touch your face without sanitizing.

  1. Sanitizer is your best friend:

You’re visiting a place open to over hundreds of people through the clock. You’re sharing equipment, showers, seats, and whatnot. It’s imperative you use sanitizers at all times. Finished your training, sanitize. Took a shower? Sanitize. Leaving the gym? Sanitize. Do keep in mind that you need to use a sanitizer that has over 90% alcohol content to ensure maximum protection from Coronavirus.

  1. Be Responsible:

Lastly, you’re responsible for your health and others’ during a pandemic. If you’re feeling under the weather, don’t visit the gym. Rest, get a check-up, and recover until you’re all hale and hearty. You wouldn’t want anyone to spread the virus and so shouldn’t you. And always remember crowds or not, physical distance is important. Keep the feet between you and hopefully, we’ll make it through this in no time.
